Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about the project, process, and integration.
What is GmodProtect?
A community-run, evidence-based database and open-source addon that helps GMod servers respond to severe violations transparently.
What’s in scope and what isn’t?
Four pillars: Pedophilia/CSAM, Minor Endangerment, Cheating/Exploiting, Severe Harassment. Petty rule breaks or off-server disputes are out of scope.
How do I partner my server?
Go to Onboarding and contact us. We vet communities and issue an API key after approval.
How does evidence review work?
Trained moderators verify unaltered, contextual evidence against published guidelines. High-severity cases require at least two reviewers.
How are mistakes corrected?
Use the Support & Appeals contact. Senior moderators uninvolved in the original decision review appeals.
Is the addon open-source and how does it work?
Yes. It fetches signed case data from our API and lets you configure per-violation actions. No telemetry is collected.
What player data is processed?
SteamID64 and evidence related to on-server behavior submitted by reporters. See the Privacy Policy for details and retention.
Are there API rate limits?
Yes. Reasonable per-key burst and daily caps to protect stability. Final limits will be published before launch.
What uptime should we expect?
We aim for high availability and cache responses. The addon retains the last good dataset and fails gracefully for non-critical calls.
When does the public database launch?
At launch. Approved pre-launch cases will appear then.
How do staff submit a report?
Via our secure workflow once available. Until then, contact Support for guidance.
How can I contact the team?
Use the Contact page for Partnerships, Support & Appeals, or General Inquiries.
